Remote Desktop Connection 6.1 can be tricked to install on 32 bit (x86) Windows 2003 Service Pack 2 after setting the compatibility mode to XP (using right-click, Properties).

Royal TS requires Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 (Attention: Royal TS will not run with the Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile!)
Windows Installer 3.1 or later is needed to install the MSI package. If your system is patched regularly, this is likely already installed on your system.
There's a memory leak in the WTS API which Royal TS is using to retrieve the remote session information. Microsoft has issued a patch which can be downloaded here.
