I"m having an issue witht the software taking a while to startup.  Perhaps I'm not using the software as intended, or I'm overly impatient.  I click the icon to launch the program and it takes 45 secs to open (30 if I've opened it recently).  I have 564 servers in about 9 folders.  Is this normal?  If so I'll live with it.  I want to avoid having to split the servers out into mulitple files.  I search the forum and couldn't find anyone else with this problem.

Hi,

did you password protect your file? If so, did you choose to encrypt the passwords only or the entire file? If you encrypt only the passwords, try to change it to the entire file.

Is the application startup also slow when starting Royal TS without an auto start document configured? If so, you can try to precomplie Royal TS on your machine. Other users reported a performance gain doing so: http://www.code4ward.net/main/Support/Forum/tabid/61/forumid/5/threadid/905/scope/posts/threadpage/2/Default.aspx

cheers,
Stefan

I don't encrypt the passwords or the file.

Without an autostart file the application starts up within 3 secs.  With the file, 45 and 30 as originally posted.  I tried to follow the link you gave but I get the following error: Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. Parameter name: index.

I'll search the forum's for it and see if I can locate it.

Well, after doing the precompile, the autostart start time is now 19 secs.  Not as fast as I want, but 50% faster than before.  Thanks.

Well, the link I posted will work if you are logged in. This is a bug in the forum that the paging is different for users logged in or users not logged in. Sorry about that!

Even, if you do not encrypt your file, the passwords are still "encrypted" and if you have a password defined on all your machines it will take a while. You could create a backup of your file and try to encrypt the entire file with a master password - just click on the document in the tree, go to properties and set the option to encryot the whole file. Specify a master password and try to open/save your document. It should be much faster.

cheers,
Stefan

Wow.  I did as you suggested and encrypted the file.  Opens in 3 secs now.  Much, much better.  Thanks for the help.

Glad I could help. Btw, we are working on a credential manager in V2 which should speed up those things since the password will only be encrypted one time...

cheers,
Stefan

Well, speed is my big desire, but my favorite new feature by far for the new version is nested folders.  That is the biggest need I have now.  But looking at all the new features planned it looks like an exciting product of those of us into this sort of thing...:)

Yep, nested folders will be in the next major version and as you said, all other features will be exciting as well...
