I've been a RoyalTS user for several years.  I'm currently running a licensed version 1.6.8.36439 on Windows 7.  I can no longer insert a new entry.  When I right click and select insert, or use ctrl+I - nothing happens.  I tried creating a new file and even uninstalling and reinstalling RoyalTS to no avail.  Any ideas?

Hi,

In most cases one or more configuration files are corrupt. That may happen when you install Windows Updates and reboot your machine while Royal TS is running.

Try to delete the configuration files of Royal TS (it's recommended to backup the old files first).

Search for the following files in your user profile and rename/delete them:

code4ward.RoyalTS.ApplicationSettingsData.xml
code4ward.RoyalTS.RTSConnection.xml
code4ward.RoyalTS.TaskSettingsData.xml

Let me know, if this solves your problem.

cheers,
Stefan

Insert quit working for me.  I am on the latest release.  I tried renaming these files, but that did not solve the problem.

CAn you open the options or is it just the insert function not working for you? is there an exception in the log?

Insert doesn't work, Quick Insert does work.  I can open options.

Ok, if you click on insert, nothing happens at all, right? After you clicked on insert, can you open the log (using the View -> Activity Log) and see if there's some error or warning related to the insert command? If there's some log entry, can you post the details?

Correct, nothing happens at all.  Nothing is written to the log either, stangely enough.

Changing to verbose logging to see if that captures anything.

Yep, that's really strange. Did you try to reinstall Royal TS? Did you install any other program/tool which might interfere?

Same problem with I remove the config files and rename the license file (essentially sharware version) can do quick insert, but insert returns nothing.

This is new! What OS do you use. Did you try to reinstall Royal TS. Also can you try to log in with a different user to rule out any profile specific problem?

I am on XP.  Did try reinstall, did not try as another profile.  I will try that and let you know the results.

Thankfully (for my sanity's sake) a new profile did not solve the problem.  Should I test another re-install?  If so is there anything specific you want me to do?  Registry keys, application data, etc...?

When you tested the other user profile etc., did you use a new blank document or did you always use the same document?

New blank document.  First time I hit insert it prompted me to create a new document, I created a new document, then I hit insert and nothing happened.  Quick insert continued to work.
